Merino Wool. Not Just For Winter.

We wear wool all year round. The properties of merino wool and silk are perfect for maintaining a stable core temperature making it an excellent fibre for our hot Australian summers. Limiting your child's temperature fluctuations puts less stress on a child's body so they can concentrate on more important work like play.

Here's the low down on why merino wool is perfect for Summer.

Spring/Summer means water play is most probable. Merino wool doesn't feel cold and clammy when wet so even if your child splashes about they won't feel cold and miserable.

Looking for the perfect sleepwear/PJs? The organic merino/silk and cotton/wool/silk blend makes the most peaceful and pesticide-free sleepwear, GOTS certified organic when nights can start hot and end cold.

We live in Victoria and our beaches at the best of times can feel cold when the wind whips about wet clothing. We often put a merino wool singlet under our children's rashies which stops their lips turning blue.

Who hates laundry? Summer usually means more laundry, but if you keep your child in merino wool you'll also keep your laundry pile low. Merino wool is self-cleaning and doesn't hold odours and can be worn day in day out.

Finally we prefer covering up to relying on sunscreen, which can easily sweat/rub/wash off. Our kids wear loose wool/silk long sleeves as they are often outdoors most of the day so we can reduce sunscreen to exposed areas only. The silk adds a cooling, soothing property to the merino which feels lovely and smooth on the skin.

Did you know that in the past, excess wool from textile mills was given or sold to local farmers for compost because it’s rich in nitrogen? Wool was once an essential part of a natural, circular system. Unfortunately, today most textile waste is contaminated with microplastics and toxic dyes, making responsible wool recycling more important than ever. Read more about why we started our Privacy Policy circular clothing initiative...
